How it works
Four one-to-one sessions every 4 weeks, and everything around them.
We start with a plan, not a timetable
Before the first session we look at where your child is now, what they're predicted, and when the exam is. Then we work out what needs to happen in between. The tutor gets that plan before they meet your child.
One tutor, matched to the subject and exam board
Our tutors are trained by qualified teachers and matched to your child's subject and exam board, because the mark schemes differ. Your child keeps the same tutor, so nobody has to explain the same thing twice.
Help between sessions, not just during them
If your child gets stuck mid-week they can message their tutor and get an answer from a person. Every session is recorded, the resources are shared afterwards, and we track progress so you can see how it's going without waiting for a school report.

Your child's Grade Gap Review
Before the first lesson, we find exactly where the marks are going, and show you how we'll win them back.
Finds exactly where marks are being lost, so no lesson is spent on what your child already knows.

Parents book this consultation on its own to get expert advice and act on it themselves. With SmartX, the same diagnosis comes with the tutor who does the fixing.

Questions we get asked
How much is it?
Β£200 every 4 weeks per subject. That covers four one-to-one sessions every 4 weeks, weekly homework marked before the next session, a new assessment and a SmartX progress report every six weeks, plus the plan, recordings, resources and help between sessions. It's paid every 4 weeks. New families also get a Grade Gap Review, worth Β£150: an initial assessment, SmartX report and a strategy call with a former deputy head teacher. You don't pay anything until after the call, and only if you decide to go ahead.
Can we try one lesson first?
Yes. A single one-to-one trial lesson is Β£50. You choose the subject, tutor and time online, and there's nothing to commit to afterwards. Book a trial lesson.
What happens on the call?
It's a 30-minute video call on Google Meet, and the link is in your confirmation email. We go through your child's subjects and the grades they need, explain how the tutoring works, and tell you whether we think we can help. If we can't, we'll say so.
Is there homework?
Only if you want there to be. Some students need something to work on between sessions. Others have enough on with school and their own revision. We set it on request.
What if my child doesn't get on with the tutor?
Tell us and we'll find them a different one. It happens occasionally and it isn't a problem.
How quickly will we see a difference?
Confidence and exam technique tend to improve in the first few weeks. Grades take longer, usually a term or more. Hazel's move from a 3 to a 9 took ten months, and that's a realistic timescale for a jump like that.

AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas, at GCSE and A-Level. We match the tutor to your child's board.
